About This Trail

Part of a network of settlers’ trails to their pre-emptions circa 1910, now within Naikoon Park, traditionally Haida territory. The trail leads through old-growth cedar and spruce forest and up into the bog, with views stretching into Naikoon Park. From the bridge, the route follows the old wagon road southeast, crosses logs to reconnect with the settler road, then follows old fence remnants and a game trail toward Heralda Lakes, reached via open muskeg and a sandy beach. Trail markers (tape) guide hikers around high-water sections. The trail continues to Heralda Lakes (about 4 km further); return the way you came.
