About Us
A small, welcoming visitor centre at the water's edge — your first stop on Haida Gwaii.
Welcoming Visitors Since 2007
The Daajing Giids Visitor Centre has been welcoming travellers to Haida Gwaii since 2007. We are a small team run by the Friends of the DG Visitor Centre Society in partnership with Gwaii Haanas Parks Canada and the Village of Daajing Giids — located at the water's edge, 9 km south of the BC Ferries terminal. If you are waiting for a sailing, come in.
Inside, a 250-foot frieze runs along the walls depicting the local fauna of Haida Gwaii — created by twenty women over eight months to mark the opening of the centre. It is one of the most quietly remarkable things in Daajing Giids.
Our staff are trained Information Counsellors. They know which trails might suit you, which businesses are open, and some niceties about travelling by ferry. We serve visitors at every stage — planning from home, just off the ferry for the first time, or returning with a specific purpose. The islands reward people who ask questions.
