About This Trail
An informal, unmarked route following Gold Creek through muskeg and bog to where the creek meets the Mayer River and flows into the south end of Mayer Lake. Watch for Labrador tea, sundews, and other bog flora along the way, and look out for old fence posts straddling the creek about ten minutes in. At the lake end, deer exclosures protect crab apple trees — the only native fruit trees on Haida Gwaii.
